This program provides down payment assistance to eligible first-time and repeat homebuyers in eligible areas in Iowa City.
City of Cedar Rapids
The First Time Home Buyer program provides down payment and closing cost assistance to eligible first-time homebuyers, forgivable after 5 years.
Fannie Mae HomeReady Loans
Income-qualified buyers can receive up to $2,500 in down payment or closing cost assistance.
Iowa Finance Authority
Provides either down payment/closing costs assistance as well as additional loans to eligible first-time homebuyers.
Journey to Homeownership
The J2H program from the Neighborhood Finance Corporation provides down payment assistance (via a deferred loan) to African American homebuyers in Polk and Linn Counties.
Veterans
The Military Homeownership Assistance Program from the Iowa Finance Authority (IFA) provides a grant to service members and veterans for down payments and closing costs on qualifying homes, and may be used in conjunction with other IFA programs.
