Meet Travis Robinson – A Trusted Financial Guide with a Heart for Community
With over 25 years of experience guiding entrepreneurs, executives, and families through life’s most important financial decisions, Travis Robinson has built a reputation as a trusted advisor and relationship-builder. As a Certified Financial Planner® and Senior Vice President with Hills Bank’s Trust and Wealth Management team, Travis combines deep expertise with a people-first approach, forging lifelong partnerships that extend well beyond investment portfolios.
Before joining Hills Bank, Travis held influential roles at Merrill Lynch, where he served as Vice President in both the Managed Solutions and Market Linked Investments Groups, and later at S&P Dow Jones Indices, where he was Global Head of the Wealth Management Channel team. Throughout his career, one thing has remained constant: his commitment to helping others make confident, informed financial decisions that support their goals and values.
Travis is just as dedicated to his community as he is to his clients. In Iowa City, where he lives with his wife Ellen and their three children, you’ll often find him volunteering at local school events, coaching youth robotics, or on the sidelines as a sports coach. He brings that same spirit of mentorship and giving to every part of his life.
His past volunteer work speaks volumes:
- Veteran Mentor with American Corporate Partners in New York, helping veterans transition to civilian careers
- Board Member with KIPP in Charlotte, NC – a nationwide network of public charter schools dedicated to educational equity
- Co-Founder of Running with Luci in partnership with the MAGIC Foundation, supporting families impacted by rare endocrine disorders
- Allocation Panelist for United Way of Mesa County, ensuring charitable resources reach those who need them most
- Founder of Grand Valley Young Professionals, now known as the Young Professionals Network of Mesa County, which continues to foster leadership and connection among young professionals two decades later
Travis holds a Business degree from The College of New Jersey, earned his CFP® designation in 2007, and has completed executive education at Harvard Business School. Whether he’s guiding a client through retirement planning or coaching a robotics team through competition season, Travis leads with empathy, strategy, and an unwavering belief in the power of community.
When he’s not working or volunteering, you’ll likely find the Robinson family adventuring in Colorado – Travis’s home state – skiing fresh powder in winter or biking mountain trails in the summer.
